LEARNING FOREIGN LANGUAGES : JAPANESE LANGUAGE – Some tips
Learning foreign languages can help you expand your horizons, acquire knowledge, or even consider different career options available under linguistics. Learning Japanese can be relatively challenging in the beginning, but it would be worth your while investing in the effort required. Japanese hold deep love for their own language and are not known to pursue study of English as a world link language. The strident march that Japan has made over the last few decades has made them the second largest economy in the world. Japan’s automobile, steel, electronics, engineering sectors have made enviable progress and have become a force to reckon with. The quality of the Japanese products and their tenacity has taken them to virtually every nook and corner of the world. And, the Japanese have achieved all this, largely through their own language, quality perhaps being the only other language they have employed.
How to learn the Japanese Language:
Working sensibly and regularly for a reasonable period, most people can learn most languages. Learning languages happen due to 2 major reasons – One, the innate desire to acquire knowledge in that language – Two, the abject necessity to learn that language because of your career or occupational portability. After all, almost every individual learns his/her mother tongue with little effort. The only difference that can be attributed to learning foreign languages is that while adults learn differently, and a lot more quickly, methods employed to teach children are quite elementary in nature.
Learning spoken Japanese can be achieved with relative ease. You can source appropriate audio, CD or mp3 or similar internet based resources and most of them free and design your programme for learning Japanese, using these resources. But, when you consider learning Japanese writing, you could have a task on hand. Japanese script is rated as one most difficult, among world languages. But, this should not throw a sincere seeker off, because the internet again provides free downloads for you to accomplish the task. Set Your Goals:
In the process of learning Japanese Language, set a clear goal. What do you want to do with it? How soon do you want to do it etc? You may not be able to speak Japanese with the same accent that the Japanese do. But, you can be heard and understood. When you are learning on your will, the process can be much faster than if you were attending a class where the language is a part of the curriculum.
Once you have achieved some degree of knowledge in the Japanese language, look around for friends, who speak the language, or Japanese magazines, or once again the internet itself for live chat etc. to keep in touch with the language. You should have, or create opportunities to practice the language you have learnt.
